'Have a boy so our legacy continues': Chiranjeevi says he is scared Ram Charan might have another girl, sparks controversy

NEW DELHI: Megastar Chiranjeevi sparked headlines on Wednesday after he said that he wants his son, Ram Charan, to have a boy next to “continue the legacy,” while expressing concern that he “might welcome another girl again.”
Speaking at the Brahma Anandam pre-release event, where he was the chief guest, the Telugu superstar, said that, “When I’m at home, it doesn’t feel like I’m surrounded by my granddaughters; it feels like I’m a ladies’ hostel warden, surrounded by ladies all around.”
“I keep wishing and telling Ram Charan, at least this time, to have a boy so that our legacy continues. I’m scared that he might again have a girl, but he has lovely kids,” he added.

Chiranjeevi’s comments about wanting a grandson to “continue the legacy” have stirred mixed reactions on social media.
While some fans defended his remarks as lighthearted banter, others criticised them for reinforcing outdated gender biases.
Chiranjeevi has two daughters, Sreeja Konidela and Sushmita Konidela, and is a grandfather to four granddaughters—Navishka and Nivrati from Sreeja, and Samara and Samhitha from Sushmita.
His son, Ram Charan, and daughter-in-law, Upasana, welcomed their baby girl, Klin Kaara, on June 20, 2023.
